Hey guys.

I'm looking at getting a shark fin / chain guard for my '05 R6.

Looking at the swingarm, it looks like there is a mounting point there already.
Is this indeed intended for a shark fin?

What brands would you guys recommend?

It probably is not intended for a shark fin, and I would recommend woodcraft.

hmm, i thought it was. it's a little tab with two holes on it. it's right where a chain guard/fin would go. :confused
Maybe it is... I dont have and have never had an 03-05... I thought you had to drill and tap the swingarm.

Fitment: The Graves Motorsports Shark Guards have a universal fitment and can be used on motorcycle swingarms with a flat underside and various sport bike where a flat bolting surface is available.

I know Jordan was telling me the woodcraft one required drilling and tapping the SA...(pretty sure it was you Jordan).... Either does the job....

Just took these pics. Looks like a shark fin mount to me. What else could possibly mount there?

Just needs a fin with vertical holes.

I have a GYTR shark fin I got from tobefast.com for like 20 bucks,
It bolted right up to those holes, and it's real thick carbon..

I might just make one out of a plastic cutting board or something ABS.

Anyone feel like scanning theirs for me, so I can just trace and cut? If not i'll work something out.

It needs to be really strong... They are pretty cheap too...
It's really called a toe guard, do some searching and I'm sure
You'll find one you like....

Yep, just looked at tobefast.com. It's 29.95 and it a real
G.Y.T.R. Part. http://www.tobefast.com/gyt-r-carbon-fiber-toe-guard-pr-466.html
Meh, all it has to do is deflect a hand/foot. I bought a cutting board to use, if I can get the bandsaw working tonight i'll cut a rough piece.

GYTR part is nice, but I don't have any CF on the bike, so it would look out of place.

Plus my cutting board cost me $5. $2 in black paint and it'll be fine.

Thread Update:

I printed out the picture of the GYTR, used some trial and error with sizing of the image, and eventually got a template printed out.

Traced it onto a cutting board from Canadian Tire ($5), and then cut it out with the band saw. Planed the top edge afterwords. Did some sanding to clean it up.

Went to Canadian Tire to pick up some SS hardware, including lock washers. Marked out the holes and drilled. Test fit.

Krylon Fusion Satin Black (drying in the house):

Done.
