Theres a trend im seeing more and more. People are buying shit for their bike and dont need it.. people think this part or that part will automatically make you faster or even worse just want it for the baller status effect. If you cant set-up your suspention or tell a suspention guy what your bike is doing wrong so he can make adjustments a full ohlins or track setup is just a waste of money, If you're not out performing a stock part on your bike why replace it? Other than products that tailor controls to you ie. rearsets clip-ons ect I dont get the point. Maybe im a hater but Im sick of seeing people here (around my area... not on the forums haha) with "race" parts on their stretched/lowered "super litrebike" with armor-all on their tires talking about how fast they are and took the on-ramp at 120 doing a wheelie and backing it in then hit 190 on the fwy blah blah blah. Or the new guy with loads of money who just has to have the most expensive shit on his bike cause it makes him look faster.... people like this just want attention or want to look cool and I hate it and it drives me crazy :jacked Am I alone on this or am I crazy??? Well Im done ranting.

Part of owning a bike is enjoying being able to show it off, but I get what you're saying about the whole on-ramp piece and doing 190 on the freeway and bragging about it. I enjoy people looking at my bike and it makes it worth all the time I put into waxing it etc. You have a very valid point about modifying parts if you're not using the bike at it's limits already. Well said.

These types are usually former Honda Civic drivers. The type that put gigantic wings on the trunk and ratty-looking hand painted front clips on them.

I'll be happy if I can just get my basic cornering skills down to second nature one day.

i agree it's annoying seeing people with excessive amounts of bling, but who here can honestly deny completely that part of the reason they have a sport bike is to show off just a "little"? sportbikes are badass, and we all know it. so does most everyone else

yup biggest reason i got my bike was so i can show off lol...havent even tried goin on twisty roads an shit i mainly just cruise around the city lookin all cool tryin to pick up some ladies

..it dont work im just too ugly

ya it works for a while till i take the lid off...first thing they say is "uuuhhhh ya nice bike dude" and they keep an walkin

...i gotta learn how to close the deal with the helmet still on

Im not hating on people who got expensive stuff.... just those people who get em just to get em and look down on people who dont have the money they have to buy the stuff or talk a big game cause they have a full ohlins suspention and say stuff like "yeah before I got my ohlins I could only take the onramp or whatever corner they're lying about at 90 but now I can take it 30mph faster ect" Oh and I've seen some race only parts on show type city cruizer bikes like brembo brakes bst rims and whatnot and I dont think they should be on there whatsoever...

ask yourself this tho, if u had the money to throw at the bike, would u trick it out w/ some real nice stuff like ohlins suspension and brembo brakes?
also, dont think everyone w/ that stuff and just cruises around on the street, they could take out their speed urge on the track.

hell, a few racers ive met rock scooters as their daily driver.

but i agree, there are people who have sick bikes and cant use them...

I remember when I was new and at the squid bike night. Some guy mentioned this popular road and how he was "backing it in" on some of the corners.

I was honestly confused and asked what he meant by "backing it in"

And he was like...cmon man you know?

Nope...

If i had money to throw at my bike, i'd spend it going to the track

it's very tough to reach the limits of even a stock sportbike, but getting there is quite fun. some people are just looking for attention i guess.
I've modified a good amount on my bike, but i've done it all myself. really i'm not looking for attention...i'd like to think of myself as modest, plus i'm engaged so it's pretty much game over for me anyway =P
i just want my bike to look exactly how i want it to, it makes it a much more personal machine to me and helps me find it easier in bike lot at the movie theater =P

Nope..... if I was gonna drop 5g's on suspention and brakes It would be a track dedicated bike only. Im not talking about those people who know what their talking about and what their doing, only those who have more money than sense and think of their bike like their wife does their Gucci bag. I dont discriminate on people till I get a chance to talk to them If they dont know wtf theyre talking about or why they NEEDED 5g's in upgrades then they are ghey haha.

yeah i totally get what you're saying. Its like those guys that get the rims, the exspensive rear sets, $1200 exhaust, rizoma grips and mirrors, best tires, tank grip, damper,pcii and tune, full suspention, etc and never take it on good twisties or the track, just cruise it. I mean yeah you can do what you want but those are performance parts. Its like stetching a 1liter and puting an empty bottle of nos on it for show and never dragging it, lol.

When I was at bike night a while ago there was a man with a busa... It had the Blackstone tech wheels on it. He first told me how much they cost then he said it handled like a 600.:lmao
He was dressed like he was going on a yacht cruise,sweater vest, slacks and the old man shoes with the leather tassles.
He had more money than brains thats for sure.:screwy
