i just lowered my girls 08 R6. i think it rides like shit now. i tryed to meep the front and rear ground clearence to as close as a match as i can by measureing it. there less than a 1/4 inch diffreence in height from the floor. i only lowerd the bike 2 inch's...

my question is, should i adjust the dampening in the forks and spring? harder or softer for the forks? how should i adjust the spring?

any tips to improve the handling here? (without putting the stock links back on)

what else can i do to get back the handling?

You always should setup the suspension IMO. I was very uncomfortable on mine when I got it and was going to lower it. Someone suggested setting the bike up for my weight and riding style. I searched the forum and found a great link on how to do it. Now I love how my bike feels and I dont need to lower it at all. Highly reccommend doing the same. When you lower a bike it WILL affect handling. The R6 is very touchy about that because Yamaha has designed it with certain parts of the suspension in a straight line to improve handling. They have proved this works by having what most people regard as the best handling 600 out there. You will undoubtably lose handling performance when lowering it no matter what else you do but you can minimize the effects but tweaking the suspension settings as I mentioned. Good Luck with your project....if she learns to ride it well, maybe she'll want to raise it back up in the future.

her being 5"3....i dont think she'll be raising it. she already rides goog too. but she cant ride the stock height at all...

you have that link on how to adjust the settings?

and i know that lowering the bike will make it lose handling performance. but i'm just going to try and make the loss as little as possible.

The suggested is not going to be what you'll want for a lowered bike with a small woman on it. Just follow the instructions on the link I sent you....especially the part about writing it all down each time you change it! I can not stress how important that part is. You will make so many adjustments along the process that you WILL forget what you did.
