Ive just brought an R6 :D

Im very happy with it, My only concern with what seems to be a very tidy bike is a Light ticking noise. It sounds like a sewing machine.

The bike has only got 7000 miles and has been looked after but it has been a track bike for the past few years.

I can hear it the most at around 4k and just about at 5k but then the engine noise is to loud to hear it.

Ive read somthing about a "yamaha tick"

Is that what ive got or could it be somthing worse.

Cheers Tom

Either yama-tick, or check the cam chain tensioner, I'd imagine it being a track bike it would already have a manual one installed.

how often does a manual cam chain tensioner need adjusting?

Is it a good idea to add one as the standard one is abit of a week point.

Is there anyway of diagnosing the "Yamaha Tick"

Or is there a set of things I can inspect and if it isn't one of them and nothing appears to be wrong then I can conclude that it is this "yamaha tick"

cheers for the help
