everything was cool until we were about to head to the "secret location that'll make your eyes water" for the bbq. the authorities closed down the park to the public so we couldn't go. so we were told we were supposed to go to another area, so about 30-40 riders head towards that area and CHP zooms past us, pulls us all over, tells us we're going the wrong way and we're actually going to a 3rd spot. so we turn around, 40 min drive in the flat flat hills to a dirt bike/atv site. everybody's there all hot and dusty, half the group came an hour or so later because we all got split up. we were also told to buy tickets to the bbq for $2, turns out that ticket wasn't for the bbq and went to a raffle. me and some buddies bounced before that raffle started because we were so upset with the organization of this event. NO BIKINI CONTEST! riders cool, people who helped set up did the best they could, organization sucked.
on the plus side, CHP blocked on coming traffic when we were getting onto a freeway, CHP lead us through some twisties at 20mph above posted speed limit, CHP blocked off intersections so we could go through, redlight/stopsign whatever. CHP told cars that would cut between our lines to get out of our lane (we rode one lane all the way there). CHP allowed us to go 80+ on the freeway. and i've never seen so many bikes in one area before. kudos to CHP for helping us all stay safe, and letting us have fun.
funny moment of the day: 10 CHP officers chilling at our "secret location" and somebody w/o a helmet or gear starts to stunt on his atv, and revs really hard to get everybodys attention. he got a ticket. :hump
i do have pictures of all the meet points we were at before our final destination that i will post as soon as i get the camera back to my friend.
