If you stall on the start, you are supposed to put your hand up. Attempting to start your bike again requires you to put your hands on the bars. Ive been guilty of it. It is not smart.

VERY IMPORTANT POINT. This gives the starter time to pull the flag and wait until the rider is able to restart the bike. It can potentially prevent a dangerous crash right off the start. Make sure you know and understand the rules of the organization you are riding/racing with.
