I am looking at moving the liscense plate away from the undertail...either onto the hugger or further back under the tail. I am doing this on an 05 and want to know what a good solution for the four holes that will be left by the removal of the undetail assembly? I am kinda particular so leaving them open is not an option.

I did this on my 06 R6S which is the same as your 05...I just removed the hugger and mounted my plate on that center bolt... I know everyone says this will throw lots of crap at your tail..but it really doesn't...but for the holes i just cut a small cover plate from a plastic sheet, and used the same bracket to hold it in place... the plastic i used was black but im sure you coould spray paint it to match if you really wanted... looks real clean..you dont even see anything

I would want to leave my hugger on. I have sen some poeple take it off and make a shim and still use the middle bolt. I am thinking about talking to a body shop here in town about what they can do to maybe put some bondo or fiberglass in the holes. I really want a very clean look to the bike. If it was up to me I would put the plate in the seat and then they can ask to see it when I get pulled over. HA. I really have no idea where I wat to put the damn thing. I know I want a VERY clean looking tail section.

I guess if i HAVE to i can get a low profile fender eliminator and just go that route. I am not made of money. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions.

Thank you

I do like that look but that still leaves the 5 holes further back on the OEM undertail. The hotbodies tail has no holes in in other than the mounting holes, but I have been warned multiple times that the undertail is not a desirable part because the turnsignals are too dim and more often than not the thing doesn't even line up

I don't have a picture of my bike with the fender off. Here is a link to the OEM part which shows the holes I am talking about:

I wish it was just as simple as the plate you can put on the 06s and up. I have been looking ito plastic fillers and stuff. Originally I was thinking fiberglass or bondo, but I don't think they will work well with the ABS plastic.

Let me know if anyone has any suggestions

Thank you again

They will remain on the bike for when I can convince the girl to stop being scared and ride with me

I've got the same setup as the above pic, no passenger pegs though, some guys tape off the the holes, I was thinking of getting a undertail section from tobefast.com and painting it to match for an even cleaner look. The section is only $90(comes just primed) + extra $ for paint. I have all kinds of projects next month when I'm out of town. Powdercoating and paint work.
