Hi guys,
new member here! A newbie to motorcycles

I have a 2005 R6, and today I was going down the ramp to the underground parking when the door startedclosing right in front of me..so the beginner that I am, panicked and jammed on the brakes and slipped sideways (frikin gravel everywhere on that ramp from the winter)..anyhow long story short the bike kind of went down on the frame sliders (tried to hold it..but couldnt on the slope and gravel)
so anyway problems are:
a found a piece of plastic right under where the bike had fallen, not sure what it is and where it broke from..

Also, there was some liquid under where the bike was on its side...should I be concerned?

Thanks guys!

Don't have a clue what that plastic peice/clip thing is; I'm not familiar with 2nd gen r6's. As for the liquid, what color is it? Does it look like oil? coolant? brake fluid? Definitely inspect vigorously for leaks.
I touched and smelled the liquid..smelled like gas but it was dark..so not sure what it was
it's upright in the parking spot now and I havent seen any more dripping
That doesn't look like it came from any year R6. As for the liquid, It was probly gas coming out the vent tube.

Does not look familiar to me either, and the fluid was most likely gas from the overflow or vent tube.
not from your bike. i've had mine down to a frame, and have never seen that
Not from an r6

Thanks guys, for the replies!

Your responses kinda got me hopeful, but then I went back and looked at the bike again carefully and noticed how the black plastic part of the broken piece has perfect color matching and texture with the part of the frame under the seat above the fairings..smooth black with shiny spots
now I'm confused again..
also the fact that it was right there under the bike seems like too much of a coincidence!

show pic on the location of the bike
Here it is next to the bike..close to perfect color matching..
still havent been able to figure out where it's from...

This is getting frustrating..

Change your brake fluid....
Change your brake fluid....
It's actually been flushed a few days back
Thats your subframe, that is metal not plastic
i dont know the 05 im just kinda of thinking out loud. Could it be the tab that holds the fairings together at the bottom in front of the rear wheel.

I shall check!
Looks like a clip for wiring or something. Pull your tail off and take a look around.

This

Care less, OP. The leak was just gas, and the plastic thingy is from something else. Lots of pieces on cars are painted black, so the fact that something on your bike is also black should not be the indicator that it came from the bike. :laugh
The fact that the paint matches exactly and he found it under the bike after dropping it seems like a pretty ridiculous coincidence for it to NOT be from the bike.

That said, I've owned two second gens over the course of 9 years and like 30,000 miles of riding ... and I've never seen that piece before. Kind of hard to tell from the pics though.

Either way, if it broke that easy, it can't be that important. :laugh
