What do those sidelights do???

Hi Guys,

I have a 2002 R6 and I can't figure out what the side lights are supposed to do. I can see them under the clear plastic but I can't seem to figure out how to switch them on. They don't come on with the main lights. Are they just for show or are they supposed to be functional? If so, what could be the problem?

Thanks,
-Baldric

If you are refering to the lights in the upper outside corners of the headlights, don't worry about them. America did not get light bulbs in those positions, in Europe they act as parking lights and some people convert them to parking or signal lights here. I have done the project, and it isnt too difficult. I hope I'm thinking of the right lights you are talking about.

Yup, those are the lights I mean. I even have a position on the trottle handlebar for turning the sidelights on, but it does nothing.

Where can I find info on modding them for use as indicators?

Thanks,

They come on with your key. You turn them on by going all the way to wheel lock then one click further. This is a parking light position. Turns on the front parks and tail lights.
Hmmm, maybe I should check the wiring, cause mine definately do not come on in that position.
I do have the '03' Aussie version of the R6. The US version is a bit different.
Detuned & not as powerful ( due to your crappy fuel ) & no parking lights.
Did you check to make sure there is a bulb installed there? Our US version doesnt even have a bulb in that position, and also doesnt have a parking postion like my old Honda did. Fuses?
