Hi guys, I'm new to the forum. I have decided that I will be picking up an 08 r6 in black at the end of May. Ive done alot of research on the bike but good info on helmets seem hard to come by. This aspect also seems quite subjective so i'd like to hear experienced opinions!

I'm looking to spend between $300-400 on the helmet. If you guys were buying a helmet in that price range...what would you pick? Thanks in advance guys and I'll post pics of the new bike at the end of May!

shoei RF-1000... I came from an HJC and the difference is noticeable. I love my RF-1000 I wish I didn’t waste the money on the HJC and just got a shoei right away.

The HJC was good but the shoei is waaayyyy better

I'd stick to major names, I'm an AGV guy and they've got some decent lids in that price range (there's a gothic white / yellow Rossi lid going on ebay sub $300) but definitely go to your dealr or any and try on a few, see how you like them

Go to a local shop and try a few on Arai, Shoei, Suomy, and AGV are all great brands, but most fit a little different. see what you like, and then order online, you'll find em a lot cheaper

Either the SHOEI or the Aria will be fine. Both are quality helmets.

don't forget icon, they make some pretty nice helmets for around your price. But if you want to spend in the uppers, I would go with Suomy, Arai or Shoei.

I just picked up the new Scorpion EXO-1000. It has a pump to inflate the cheek pads and a fighter-pilot-type inner smoke screen that flips down for the sun. It's a little heavy, but the features are great. I got the blue one and it almost pefectly matches my R6!

One that fits right. Go into a store, put one on and walk around with it on for 20 minutes. If you begin to feel any 'hot spots' you might have one a little to small. If you can move it up and down, or side to side and can feel the padding brushing against your face, its probably too big. The most important thing is to get one that fits well. Different helmets fit different heads, so be sure to try a few on.

Some good brands are Shoei, Arai, Suomy, Shark, Scorpion, AGV, HJC... I'm probably forgetting some. DOT standard is a must, lots of people like Snell standards, but personally I think the ECE 22-05 and BSI Euro standards are better.

I have the the Scorpion Exo-700 Burst in blue and white. Its pretty snug for my head. I used it for MSF and I did not have any problems with it. Happy hunting.

This weekend im goin to try on a new Suomy to see what size i should get...then i'll be pickin her up in the next month or so! Already got it picked out!

Just tryin to get my mom to buy it for me as a birthday present lol

But yeah, stick to the name brands...Right now ive got an HJC and its alright, but i got it cause i just wanted a helmet and they didnt have anything good at the shop in my old town. All the tops have been said so stick to those and you're all good.

i have a scorpion and i really like the fit. i tried a bunch of helmets on and that seem to fit the best. it fit better than the a lot of the more expensive ones and it seems real good quality. try a bunch on and go with the one that fits right/best.
