Hey guys. So I need to change my oil again and I figured I should replace the crush washer too. I'm looking online and see a few different sizes of crush washers (basically ranging in even #s from 10-20mm). I was wondering what sized crush washer my 05 takes on the drain plug bolt. Also would it be better to get aluminum or copper crush washers. Thanks guys.

If I remember correctly, the drain bolt on my 03 is a 14mm. So.....the crush washer would be one size up? Your best bet would be to just take the bolt and take it to a auto parts store or hardware store and match it up. As for aluminum or copper, I'm guessing aluminum would be best. Why? :dunce:

Good luck man!

you're wasting your time. you don't need new crush washers. and do yourself a favor, don't use a torque wrench.
or we'll see your post about your stripped oil pan.

don't just take my word for it....search the topic on this forum. you come out with several pages

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread.. but I always thought a new crush washer was needed?

Also what is the correct size? I'd like to buy some in bulk for future oil changes...

Thanks
I go new every other one, we keep a ton of aftermarket ones in stock of different sizes at the shop, but cant remember exact size. But if you have a few bucks to blow i recommend this

I dont thing I have ever changed a crush washer on an oil drain plug. Ever. But yeah, the stahlbus drain valve is the best way to go.

Wow, very impressive. This is def. going on my next bike. I just blew a sh** ton of money into a bike I already dumped a sh** into. My wallet is on pause right now. :thumbdown

14mm is correct. Either metal is fine, just don't get plastic.
Would this work?
