I have an 00 R6 and I thought I was supposed to use 10w 40 year round, I dont do much winter riding. Well at the dealer today I asked what he recomended and he said 20w 50. The weather ranges hear from 80F-95F in the summer time. In the winter its usally around 20F-30F. Thanks in advance guys.

If you use a synthetic then 10w 40 is your best choice for all around use. If you are using a dino oil then the seasonal ambient temperatures need to be considered.

First, why 10W-50 ?

Second, Why you run a different oil any other time ?

actually, I need to correct myself. I was still set in my old ways with the Daytona... Currently, in the R6, I run 10w40 Mobil 1 and will prob. run it year round. I just did my first synthetic (third for the bike) oil change yesterday, so I was responding with my previous experience with the Daytona.

yeah i just changed my oil but when i went to the dealership i forgot what type of oil i used last time and they gave me 20w50 .. so i changed it.. and when i got home i found an old bottle of oil and it was a yama lube 4... 20w40 ?... any one think ima have any problems?

Just make sure you warm your engine thotoughly before riding... which should be done with any oil..
