So I just got a 2009 r6 I was looking at getting new fearing but when I was looking none of the fearing looked like they matched up. I was looking at pictures and the fearing match up better with the an 05. The vin plate says it's a 09 I just don't understand what's going on. Could the last owner have put the wrong fearing on? Are the different years compatible with each other? The tail light are not right either. The pictures I was seeing the 09 has a single tail light but mine has 2 lights. Does anybody know what might be going on?

Post a bunch of pictures so we can take a look. Also FYI, it's fairings not fearings.

The R6S is pretty much an 03-05 R6.
When they came out with the 3rd gen R6 in 06, they still produced the second gen's but put an "S" at the end.

I don't know all the differences. But I do know that the fairings/cosmetics are different, and the suspension is different. If I had to guess, I'd say the R6 makes more power than the R6S and is also more track oriented than the R6S. I currently own on 08 R6, and have ridden an R6S. They are/were both good bikes, but the 08 R6 is definitely more aggressive and track focused in my opinion. And looks better :p

If you search on the forum and Google, I'm sure you can find all you want to know.

Hi all, I seem to be on the same boat. I picked up this 06 R6, but noticed the body style is like the 04-05. However I have 2 questions,
1) my title says it’s a YZFR6L and body style says RC. Is this the R6s?
2) if I get the other style of 06-07 fairings, will they fit on my current body style?

The r6s was made from 06-09 but have 03-04 fairings. If your looking online for fairings just use the years 03 and 04 and they will fit some of the stores have an r6s option as well. For the title I don't know my title just says it's a yzfr6 that's why I was confused at first.
Just order my new fairings up today

Perfect, thank you. I was afraid it was modded or something, at least I know now. /// this bike was used as a stunt bike prior, I’m rebuilding it, where can I find a fuel tank, so far it’s impossible to find a non-dented one online.
