follow the manufacturer's instructions on break-in. the 600 mile service is more like an oil change followed by a safety check. you can do this yourself. the oil filter is usually installed pretty tight from the factory and is sometimes a pain in the ass to remove.

good luck!

You bought the bike new right?

Have you looked through your owners manual???? Specifically the back of the manual?

Start there..... All the info you seek is there and they even show you how to remove the fairings and how to do an oil change. You'll also find that they provide you with how much oil to use and what grade.

Also, do a search on the forum.... Your question had been asked more than twice.

Let us know if you run into any dead ends. ::cheers

pretty sure the 600 service is not require by warranty. after i bought my 2012 i was hanging at the dealer and and brought up the 600 service i had to get soon. the sales guy said thats a total waste of money having the dealer do the work. he basically said change the oil and check all basic parts, check air filter, cables tensions and everything. check bolts to the clip ons and on the lower part of the forks.

but the sales man is obviously not a Yamaha warranty specialist so it is possible i voided the warranty doing the work myself.

also what s3aturnr said about the filter being tight. also the drain plug. mostly everything on the bike is really f-ing tight from the factory.
