Improving the PCV

I tapped the PCV speed wire input right to my Speedo Healer so I didn't have to touch the factory wires at all, works sweet :)

-Jamie M.
Really, I've heard to tap into your stock wire so that the unit get the signal directly from the system, and not readings output by the speedo healer...Not sure if it was in a PCV or Bazzaz thread, but should be the same, no?

If you are planning on running an AutoTune the PCV is the clear winner.

If you are just going to have it dyno tuned then its a toss up. I still lean torwards the PCV because the install is quite a bit easier, and it has more upgrade/add on options. Not to mention the PCV has much more advanced tuneability options.

Really the only advantage I see to Bazzaz is it controls 8 injectors out of the box without an add-on. However that small difference to me doesn't out weigh all the features and options you have with the PCV.

Where are you in the midwest? If you are near Ohio, bring it by and I'll flash your ECM.
As far as installation, do I need to tap into anything? I looked at the directions and it seems plug n play, unless I want to map by gear, this correct?

Please....lol

On the R6S ONLY, it's 100% plug and play, no cutting, no splicing, unless you want to rock per-gear maps or extra warm up fuel (coolant temp sensor).

-Jamie M.
Yes, I will be using this on my S. :)

Awesome, Thanks Jamie, I knew you'd help me out!!!

I don't think I need to per map gear.

I've been crazy busy lately, http://ecuflashking.com

I'm getting like 20 emails per hour, people wanting all kinds of different stuff! I just flashed a few modified sprint car things (that use R1 engines) and have 30 more that want flashed! Yikes!

That's why I have not been helping on here as much as I was :( I apologize.

Per-gear tuning is only for picky bastards. Coolant temp based warmup is mostly useful for highly modified engines (YEC cams, high comp heads, etc.) and with autotune.

-Jamie M.
:eek5:eek5 Wow, that is a helluva lot of work you have there...:toocool:

No worries at all! You helped me out!!! Thumbs up!

The S is mainly my street bike, so I don't think I need to go all out. I may throw it on this weekend or next. I need to do the smogs for the S but need to find a good write up to see how much different is it compared to the "R".

Then, another custom tune!!!

I've never done them on the R, but on my S they were easy. Lift tank, pop off airbox, lift up cover flap, out with the old (rip out the entire AIS pump and hoses, too, don't forget to cover the nipple on the airbox), in with the new, done. Make sure to remove the baskets, reeds and screws but leave the basket holder installed :)

Aren't they purrrdy?

Thanks man!

Almost of the same as the R, but doesn't the S have an evap can or charcoal canister that could be removed or something? Looks like there is more room to work too.>>!!!

Also, the hose's that are left in ur pics? Those should be removed too? or whats' the deal?

Thanks Jamie!

Only the Cali model has the evap can ;) *EDIT: Whops, just noticed you're in Cali! lol.
You'll be removing all the hoses connected to the AIS pump (three in total, one input hose from the airbox, two output from the pump to the smog plates), AIS pump, and the two stock plates.

Lots of room to work, but some of the screws are covered by the slide stop covers. You should just install slide stops (check sig) while you're doing the smog plates, makes life easier ;)

-Jamie M.
Yeah...:lmao Commifornia! I think it's in the rear of the bike by the shock, going to have to check.

What are those hose you have left in that case?

Can't be much worse than the R with the frame in the way...lol. At leat my 08 has the cut in the frame so it's a bit more room than the 06-07...ha

Don't the slide stops make u lose some low end or something I read? I really like how the S rides now so I don't want to change still just to get a bit more horse. Worth it? You have a shit load of other stuff too, so remember it might not be the same for me. :EDIT: I may be thinking of the stacks.

You are thinking of the stacks. The slide stops give you MONSTER power down low, INSTANT throttle response! Almost scary!
If you're getting a custom dyno tune, for SURE do the stacks before you do! They really mess up the tune ;)

Not sure which hoses are left, the big big hose on the far right in my pic gets removed, the two smaller hoses you remove you can't really see in the pic, the hose just to the left of the big one stays (breather for the slide stops I think).

-Jamie M.
Not sure I want a twichy throttle...:lmao;)

I'll do some research on it. Thumbs up!

I was looking at the hoses to the right of the pics.

Going to throw up a thread soon asking Cali folks if they take all that ish off, evap and all that...I don't want it. :)

It's for sure "not for beginners" lol. The first corner I took, I usually like to really rip it coming out, OMG just picked the front tire right up!!! Not fun mid corner, but I rode it out. Must have looked super pro, but had to change my underwear when I got home ;) I wouldn't call it twitchy, but more aggressive and direct, no delay, no hesitation. Just be careful with your mid corner roll-on's and you'll be fine :D

I thought if you even ditch your catalytic converter in Cali they castrate you and kill your parents and children? Let alone remove the smog stuff!!! Think of the kittens!

After your first ride with slide stops you'll look like this:

-Jamie M.
Yeah, that would be my worry, but I'm pretty easy on the throttle, for the most part.

:roll
LOL, almost, lol you just have to know peeps...lol My car doesn't pass smog, but I know people... :)

My "R" has none of that crap, neither will my S. :fact.

:YEA Cooooooooookies!!!!
