hi, Ive been riding for about 3 months now Ive noticed that when my bike is running hot, its harder to find the friction zone while @ a stop I either stall or my engine rev up feels like my bike is about to take off from under me. My thing I want to be able to accelerate faster while @ a stop.

My question
is there any modification or something i can do about this clutch plate or friction plate
I have a 2003 R6 stock.

i'm not sure on this but it almost sounds like your clutch could be going bad. how many miles are on the bike?

also, when you say running hot do you mean hot in the acceptable temp range or is the bike overheating?

if it only has 3000 miles on it then its probably not the clutch. its probably something similar to what njk27 said. if the bike didn't get used much it might need a tune-up of some sort.

I have 2800 miles on my 2003 and my coils need to be replaced I would bet that your are arching and it isnt firing on one cylinder all the time. As matter of fact mine is getting fixed today. Check the sticky under yzf chat titled: 2003 R6 owners.

thanks guys

I talk to a friend whos been riding for a while he said that the clutch plates expands when the bike is hot, and make the friction zone smaller.

now i was wondering if i replace the clutch and friction plates to steel plates maybe it would eliminate this problem. maybe im wrong isnt the stock plates aluminum.

Has anyone done this before.
