Well i've done some searching and only turned up that the 303 is for 2nd gens and the 204 for 3rd gens for clearance purposes. I've been using the 204 for my oil changes with no problems. I was wondering if i'd get any more benefit out of using the 303 which is 10mm longer or if it doesn't really matter. Thanks.

K&N used to have their ratings on the box, same ratings as a Fram. Well behind WIX, Mobil 1, the "nicer" filters. Pretty much no filters have real ratings on the box anymore, now there are so many ways to "fudge" the numbers.

Bobistheoilguy.com is a good site for filters and lube research, however it can be very time consuming to find what you are looking for there sometimes. As with anything you have to read multiple sources, and come to your own conclusions. I've seen a few argue that "nicer" filters clog quicker because of the fine particles they catch and then operating in by pass mode, but claim the K&N superior because it won't catch this stuff, but will operate longer because it won't clog by catching fine particles? Seems like a seriously flawed argument...

I've been getting the Amsoil filters from Bob here on the board for a while, the cages get WIX filters.

Ah got it man thanks. Yeah I just ordered some 10w-40 from bob. I just like being able to tighten the filter down to spec (feel I might overtighten it with my hands honestly). Might have to give an amsoil filter a try tho.

I don't think it matters. Just different sizes. Some people with third gens accidentally used the 303's and the only problem they had was the shiftrod would rub against the oil filter IIRC.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I was just wondering if there was slightly better filtration with the 303 because of the larger size but I don't really think it matters.
