Left Hand Rear Brake Control

Anybody set up a left hand rear brake control on their R6?

I have it on my Hypermotard using a Qnium rear master that replaces the brembo, and a Magura 16 left hand brake master.

I am considering setting up a similar unit on my R6. I plan to use the Ho Hey fitting that installs in the existing rear master reservoir port, and run a magura on the left clip on underneath the clutch. Some go the thumb brake route but I find that to be an unfamiliar method to apply brakes.

Progress so far getting the left hand rear brake setup on the R6

Purchased a new OEM R6 rear master $70

Purchased a Ho Hey fitting that is designed for the R6 OEM.* Installed it and it fits perfectly.* Remove reservoir circlip, insert fitting, reinstall*circlip.* $60

Ordered a magura left hand 13mm master and lever.* $220
Note the space requirements.* I only need 42mm of bar space to install, so it will live between the turn signal switch and the clutch.*
*It does steal some grip space, but there is enough there for me.* I could always get longer clipons if it proves to be a problem, or a more narrow button cluster.

I will order a 48inch brake line (stainless steel) from galfer or HEL and then I will be good to go.

Works really well.

I ended up going with an aftermarket ez pull impaktech clutch lever and added a toggle switch to engage the clutch safety switch.

I also went with aftermarket clipons for more bar real estate.

You can't just leave the safety switch open or bridge it because it messes with the fuel map. You must show the ecu, safety switch on, in gear, for the map to allow full power and rev limit.

I run an up/dowm quickshifter so I only need the clutch lever to start into 1st and I hit the toggle switch when I do.

I use this setup on the track and I love being able to modulate the rear brake with my fingers. Allows me to keep my foot on the pegs in a stable ball of the feet position, and use the rear for trail braking while at lean angle after easing off the front. Also great on "wheelie hill" type section to keep the front wheel down.

Better solution for a clutch safety switch when using an aftermarket perch that does not have a safety switch.

Pick up a switch like this:

Amazon.com: Cylewet 6Pcs V-153-1C25 Micro Limit Switch Long Straight Hinge Lever Arm SPDT Snap Action LOT for Arduino (Pack of 6) CYT1068: Industrial & Scientific

Bend the actuation tab to fit in the joint space of the lever hinge.

Plug OEM safety switch tabs on to the correct switch tabs for desired operation (open switch = clutch lever pulled in= neutral)

Double side tape switch body to underside of perch so that tab is properly located in joint.

Works just like an OEM switch and no need to mess with a toggle switch to actuate.
