Id like to start out by saying this is my first thread. wasn't too sure if i should put it here or in the exhaust sub-forum.

This is how i bought the bike, Im sure you all have seen what a stock exhaust looks like so i wont bore you too much.

Anyway my buddy and I took the exhaust off my 02 in the hopes of making it a bit louder without spending a dime.

We drilled out the rivets off the tip, electrical tapped where we were going to cut and proceeded to take a saw saw to it.

That stuff stunk like crazy but it was worth it, getting the exhaust tip back on was ten bitches on a bitch boat but we got it done.

We then reriveted the tip on.

Then i put it back on the bike.

All done, its a bit louder and a bit richer (smell). It shoots flames on the high end of the power band but that might just be the brake cleaner that i used to clean out some of the carbon on the inside of the exhaust tip.

Hope you liked the quick thread! :toocool:

i work at a shop so we just had them laying around... im sure you could find them at a hardware store, harbor freight, home depot etc

youll need a rivet gun to install the rivets, harbor freight has the best deal, especially since youll probly only use it on this.

Sorry for bringing back an old thread but I'm going to be doing this to my exhaust tomorrow, I've seen other post about it but the inside of my exhaust looks more like this one than the others with 4 tubes running inside of it. My question is did you take out that nasty packaging inside the exhaust or did you just cut the exhaust back and leave it in? If the latter, what would happen if I cut mine back 7-8 inches and also remove the packaging from inside?

I'd keep as much packing in as possible. Better tuning that way, unless you want it stupid loud.

Yeah I just finished it earlier, took me about an hour from start to finish! Just took the sawzall and left about an inch of the canister from the hanger and put the new rivets in. Gotta say sounds 10x more sexier!!! The sound is about 3x louder and deeper. Just make sure you have some good drill bits for this as they will break or lose their point, had 3 new bits but we're the cheap kind so went through all 3 of them to get all the old rivets off

Here's a hot tip for drilling anything steel

-GO SLOW- and it wont blunt/ dull your drill bit anywhere near as fast
