But does it really matter? Either way its REALLY FUCKING FAST.

I bet this is your first bike, huh?
You read my mind. Who the **** cares, they are fast.

I have only been up to about 145 on the speedo, so I am not as cool as all you "test pilots". :poke

Here is the kicker - how long did you sit there? If you go 160 on a bike for more than even a minute, unless you are at the salt flats, you are just stoopid (well, maybe a good track for that kind of top-speed). If something goes bad at 160 there is NOTHING you can do about it.

Any moron can drop 8k into a bike and hit the top speed......learning how to ride properly takes alot more brain cells.

a couple of years ago, my buddy had a 98 900RR and I had that up 187, it took my breath away and i slowed down. Scariest thing i've ever done in my life.

Like I have said before I like top speed AND the twisties, although I live for twisty roads.

A minute, you don't need to hold there at all other than just getting there, that is plenty stupid. But if you must know, I went about 5 miles, fully tucked WOT at top speed. Yeah, I know it was dumb but it was also a hell of alot of fun too.

So sue me. :moon

i can't believe the GP guys go 210... fuckin insane... !
210 ? Max did 215 on the Honda Crv211v but that was last year , now Loris C does 217 and their pretty sure if they had room he could get 220 out of it ! This is why in 2007 all MotoGP bikes will be 800cc instead of 990cc ...... they're just too fast for the rider safety even on a track.

My G/F has an 05 also, a Raven. She was out the other day and claimed to hit 181 mph. Other then a pipe its dead stock, I'm sure the speedo is off. I'd like to take a GPS thing someday and really see what the true speed is.

My sprockets arrived today 15,49 so all my topend is longggg gone :)
Your girlfriend sounds awesome :boob

2006 R6 169 Mph last week on I 95, I am very surprised you did it on an 05 being the 06 is faster my bike is stock except for fender kit uro turn signals and air cleaner. I could get a little more out of her but only have 1000 miles on her want to put a few more before really pushing her.

Since people are bringing in different bikes and such:

Anyone read this months Cycle World magazine? It had an article about Chris Carr going over 350mph...on two wheels. Yes, the 'bike' didn't look like a traditional motorcycle and, in fact, they called it a 'liner (it actually looked like a salmon fish of sorts, on purpose, for aerodynamic reasons)! But at that speed you're going about 1 mile every 10 seconds...it's an 11 mile course they run out there at Bonneville and you're done w/ a one way run in less than 1:30! 11 miles in 1:30! 350mph! That'll take your breath away... :)

Unless you Went up a tooth in the front or down some teeth in the rear, you weren't doing 169. 167 is the real world top speed, without gearing changes, or the elmination of the rev limiter. Though you saw 169 on your speedo, count at least 10% error on it. 167 has been proven on more than one calibrated measurement device, aka dyno or radar gun. I'll believe a dyno over any other measurement. I dynoed my bike and Wheeler done a top speed run just to see for himself....167 it was stock geared :fact

I agree with a little bit of everyones opinion and experience response. I pushed 171 racing a 636 ninja and burned the ninja. We come to a stop and he asks me how fast was I going, and I said i don't know, then I asked him and he said 177 so his odometer was obviously wrong I started thinkn like it can't b, so we raced again and looked at my mph and it kept on goin higher and higher after I seen it at 168 then kept goin up to 171 when I released the throttle, I had more to go but had a nice turn coming my way wich I never hit at that speed so I slowed it down. Gettn it dynoed soon so I guess until then ill get my results. You guys jus b carefull when flyin cause I've seen some sick sh*t. I mean I'm not any smarter but I thank god I'm still alive 2day and my adrenaline doesn't tease me as much.

I'm saying the mud flap causes a negligible effect, like the weight of an electron when calculating atomic mass.

And 170, nope the R6 won't go that fast. They will barely break 160.
I'll agree on the mud flap...that thra is some good stuff...

But on the top speed she does pretty good accoriding to the gps... 165 on the Cal Speed way front straight... I'll let you know what exhaust does to the thing..

I could see 170mph.. drafting a literbike...it could happen.. Christ, the R1 "only" does 178 there.... :lmao

On a Dyno, it could go up to 295km/hr. But then, this is without all the wind and crap...I think by the time you wait till u see 295km on your digi-speedometer, u will be shaking hands with God

My bike has a custom mapped PCIII, with a K&N, V-stacks and BF high mount. The bike will pull no more at 14.3k in 6th gear, and yes Kelp I did on the street, I know the consequences and don't want to hear about it. :hammer

My speedo is only 2% off, compared speedo to trap speed at the drag strip to figure it out, and I got an indicated 163, which = 159.7 mph.

But does it really matter? Either way its REALLY ****ING FAST.

I bet this is your first bike, huh?
you went 163 at the drag strip?

You using the speedo as a speed indicator or the dyno? 295 km/hr is 183. The r6 doesn't have the power or the gearing stock to go that fast. The dyno I used said 167(dyno measured) when it hit the rev limiter. However it will run the 167, on the back straight at Road Atlanta I red lined 6th gear once, then realized how fast I was going and got skeered. And the 167 is STOCK everything.
