I got my bike up to 176 mph and i was at 176 for a good mile and it wouldnt go any faster.
my bike is all stock.
I even tuck down as close to the bike as i can,and it was maxed out.
I have a video of me going 163 if anyone wants to see that...

Im putting a full graves exhaust on soon and some other mods, I wonder how fast my bike will go then?

Do it not matter how you break your bike in from being new?
if you dont break it in right it will never run right.
Am I right?
when you first get your bike if you test it to much it ruins your cylender walls.
someone correct me if im wrong.

You have to let it warm up first and take it easy for about a mile then load the rings hard like full throttle runs on some back roads in like 4th gear at like 7-12k rpm and vary your speed a lot and throttle position and some in 2nd gear from like 6k-16k and by 20 miles your broken in and ride it to redline in all the gears if you want.
Id say keep it under 16k till you hit 20 miles tho, then go to the max on it.

You will lose 2-10% by doing an easy break in ex. riding legally or like a pussy.

Dont forget your suspension and brakes break in as well so those will get even better with time!

That's pretty much the way I broke in my '06. This way is much like the Mototune Method. After I hit 25 miles I parked it to let the engine cool down then I changed the oil and filter. Got a very good seat on the piston rings.

easy way to test by yourselfs, is just get a simple gps and put it in your bike or pocket. It will record the maximun speed that you have been riding.

Guys i got to give you all credit for havin some balls going at those speeds on a public road :screwy ....lol.. but really Ive only been 147mph indicated and i had some terrible headshake, I know i can get rid of it with some suspension adjustments but how was the headshake at 150+ you guys must have dampeners?????? If not what is your suspension adjustments at???Mine an 04 so i figure the 06 has more topend than mine but not by much if any actually scince the earlier models post better 1/4 ets..just a guess...

DAMPER! Not dampener...(sorry, i had to) and ya i would assume that most the guys with 06's here, that are doing 150+...most likely have a damper installed, if not....well....if not get one!!!

The speedometer indicated 173 mph. The most I do is 169 ,170 normally. The day I went 173 I guess I must of had the wind in my favor. I think that plays a big factor overall. I had my garmin gps unit strapped under the windscreen. It indicated that my speed was 156mph. That a difference of 17mph in speedometer error. My bike is a 2000 R6 completely stock ,mudflap and all. I normally do my runs on US 27 in broward county. That road is autobahn quality for topspeed.

maxxed mine out to an indicated 270km/h while racing a friends on a CBR6, he had a PCIII and 15\50 so he was gone at the start of it but the six came over the top at the end and left him for dead, and no headshake at all, no damper either...

you shouldn't get headshake at those speeds unless there's something wrong. the bike should be smooth a butter.....

Yeah if its a perfectaly smooth road you wont get headshake but roads arent track quality.

i had my bike going 176 , i think if you better a higher octaine gas and if you have the right oil your bike will do 176, i had it going 176 for awhile, it wasnet windy at all that day and you have to tuck like hell to get behind that windshield.
I dont think the stock o6 r6 will go any faster, i had that baby pinned...

you guys are hella krazy by going that kind of speed. you're dead anywayz if you don't know how to ride. be safe on the roads.

I had mine op to 168 and I felt like it can go faster. what gearing is best for top speed but not losing to much on the twisties

Has anyone else used gps to find what their real speed is? My top speed on gps was 156mph on my R6. (173 indicated) What would be the top speed an R1 would indicate and what would the actual speed be?

05 r6
speedo used to read 168-171 down the front straight at PIR
regeared for better drive and taped the speedo i dont care how fast i'm going now but a good drive outta t-9 and hit the rev limiter in every gear
and the liter bikes gotta try hard to catch me befor turn 1 and no headshake and no dampener had my 06 R1 to about 180 f#$@ing scary thats why i dont look at the speedo :)
