the tip of the header will slide into the head(with the gasket in place obviously). you have the flange on the header which is correct. Just snug the header pipe into the head, then begin to tighten the bolts from the flanges. Leave everything a little lose so that you can align it all up properly

 

if you look at pic 1 and 2.. you can see the flange is installed in 2 different ways.. one facing up and the other facing down... my question was.. which is the proper way to install it ?? facing up or facing down ? just look at pic 1 and pic 2 carefully on the first pipe you will be able to see the difference.


should I install the whole exhaust as one piece. ? or dissassemble them which will have 3 parts..

the can.. mid pipe and header...

do header first.. then add mid pipe.. then finally add the can ? anyone installs it this way ? or they connect everything as one piece and then try to mount the full exhaust once ?

thought this was an easy as one two three.... and I was wrong~~..

took me way too long and I am still not finish.. need to revisit this tomorrow or the weekend... have work during weekday and dont get home til sunset.. which sucks.. so cant do the work.

 

Pic 2. And it is easier to install everything in pieces loosely the first time, then install the springs and tighten the bolts. This lets everything settle to conform to your bike. The next time you take them off, you can remove them as one piece.

I will try to install it in pieces.. first.. I think this will save me alot of headache...

I tried do it as one piece and its a bitch!!! lol.. everything dont seem to align right.

 

#2 is correct...you want the smooth side of the flange out...and the lips should be touching...this pushes the tip into the head. Install all the header first...then attach the mid...then attach the can.

I was trying to install all as one giant piece and it was frustrating!! things didnt fit right and bleh ..just crazy sunday lol..

gonna take it apart and do it piece by piece.. headers first.... then mid pipe.. then the Can..

Yeah, it looks like a used system, so it is formed to someone else's bike. Like I said, fit it loosely, then wiggle all the pieces to be sure they are fully seated. Then snug up the bolts and install the springs.

Good luck. It just takes a little patience.....and maybe some gentle persuasion with a rubber mallet. LOL. Actually, a dead blow or rubber mallet is handy....but gently.

8ball you the man , used ur mallet trick worked like a charm saved me tons of sweat , if you ever in NYC area shoot me a message I buy you beer

also the headers were stuck to the mid pipes.. I used some WD40 sprayed the area and wooola... came out like a charm.

Got it installed in 1hr!!!!

 

Having the same issues right now, can't get the exhaust part to line up.. I walked away will try in a few days again.

 

are you installing piece by piece or as a whole >?

you cant line it up correctly if you are installing it by one piece...

I had same issue it too me 4 hrs...of muscling around and I finally gave up..

and next time around I starting installing piece by piece.. and it took me 1hr to finish the whole job..

Yoshimura has you remove the exhaust gaskets for this particular system.
