So i have replaced my RR several times over the past 2 yrs and im getting sick and tired of it. Has anyone out there mounted it in a different place? Or put bigger gauge wires to it? IS THERE A TRICK OUT THERE that can save me from my pain!?

Seriously? I know it's been discussed cause I've read it here a TON of times. Extend the wires and move the bitch to the bottom of the battery tray or something.
If you are going thru this many RR's, you should consider replacing your stator too. There's not much to the charging system on the bike.
Either you fry the plug, and ground the stator out ruining it, or the RR overheats (much less common).. Replace the plug, replace the wires, whatever you want.
That is exactly what i was thinking about doing! How long have you had it like that?
@ToysareforBoys
I have read SEVERAL different things about rewiring, and iv heard people suggest just to replace like 6in of the wire with a bigger gauge, and iv heard to replace the whole wire... But the RR just broke on me last night and it didnt fry, in fact it looks perfectly fine, so i ordered another one and if that doesnt fix the problem ( which im 99% it will) il take the Stator cover over.
THANK YOU FOR THE RESPONSES! I really appreciate them!
There is a guide, either here or on r6messages, that walks you through upgrading the gauge of ALL of the rectifier and stator wires, and using better, higher quality connectors.
If your getting a new one, just go ahead and put it under the battery box.
Ive had it like that for 6 month's with no problems. It's so easy,I forgot what gauge wire
I used. What I did do was got rid of the plastic connector and used water proof(heat shrink)
connectors and just plugged them in to the R/R.New ground wire from the R/R to the neg on the battery.Good Luck
Got it all done today! Fingers crossed, i did not run the ground straight to the battery tho, just kept it the same. I used dielectric grease and hi quality male and female conntions and bigger gauge wires.
There is a plug between the RR and the stator that melted on me. Its down by the left side carb, white plug with three (heavy gauge same colored (white) wires). I cut the wires there and used 10ga wires from there straight to the RR on mine. Haven't had an issue since.
Oh yeah btw, check the stator there. Pin 1/pin 2- then pin 1/ pin 3- should be between .23-.33 ohms. Out of that range or no reading means bad stator.
Sorry about such a slow response time as I hadn't noticed. I'm not yet quite sure what the problem is. I replaced both the battery and the stator then thought it was fixed. I rode it 2 days in a row and on the second day it threw another engine code. 46 again none the less. I suppose the only thing left to replace would the the rectifier. I just ordered a new one tonight so I should know in a few days. I've even checked the main ground to see if it got a good connection and it;s good and tight. It's getting frustrating.
UPDATE: My Regulator fried again, 3 months later. Thinking about moving it farther back? That or im just ganna sell the bitch and get a newer one. This time the back of the regulator actually melted, plugs are fine, i think the grease saved it.
I just bought another Rectifier from Motorcycle superstore. This one has a 1 year warranty. And if that breaks, then i will probably sell it unfortunately. But im going to stay positive and try and move it a little farther back.
Did this ever get resolved?? It has happened to me twice, one month after getting the bike then 2 months later. And i have replaced the wires from the stator and the wires going to the regulator with individual female ends to plug in with dielectric grease.
I've got a question, on my 02 r6 it has a new stator and rr. Well they put the rr under the battery box. So it shouldn't go out but my low beams don't work. All I have is high beams which is fine with me but then this week it started giving me trouble. If I gave it gas the lights would get dim. I messed with a few things but didn't replace anything and that night it did fine. They were flickering pretty bad, well last night I was following my wife and they went out all together so thankfully I was behind her or I would have probably wrecked. I passed a cop right after they did so yes I got pulled over. But by the time he turned around an caught up to me they came back on. Idk where to even start to try to fix this. It is my daily driver and I don't get off work till 2am so I can't have that happen again. I think it is probably a short somewhere but idk. Any advise?
guys,i'm going to get 01-02 r6,becouse of as i saw it's speedest bike,0-100 in 2.8s... can u explain me what means 2nd gear problem in this models? which one is better at last 2001-2002 or 2003?
